I haven't used an Airmax, but I do have a sidewinder on my .308 at the moment. Air rifles are harder on scopes because they have recoil both directions. If you like the scope it will work fine on a .22
I have 4 Hawke scopes, two on .22s , one on a .223, and one on my 22-250. Never had any issues and good scopes for the money.Parallax should be adjustable down to 10 meters, good for a 22 or air rifle

The reticles are fine line (ie. not medium or heavy)....if that is ok for your application ......just thought i would mention that. They will hold up to a 22lr no problem.
