Hey guys,

I know Reloder 26 is intended for magnum cartridges. I've seen a few threads on forums where folks are getting very good velocity and accuracy, with safe pressures. Has anyone tried this or have any experience with this combo?

Thanks

It works quite well with HEAVY BULLETS. 140 grain and over.

You don't mention what type of rifle you are shooting.

My loads for IMR7828/Rl25/Rl26 would not be considered safe in the old 94-96-38 Mausers. I use a 22 in bbl Tikka T3.

My load with Rl26 is 53.5 grains over CCI 250 magnum primer under 140gr Hndy SST, in Norma cases. My Magnetospeed indicates very consistent velocities between 2875fps and 3000fps. This is where MY RIFLE gets the best groups which are sub moa at 100yds -300yds.

I can squeeze more powder into the case but it makes no difference in velocities or accuracy. In fact, velocities leveled off at 52.5 grains. The reason I worked up in tenth grain increments from there was because the groups kept tightening up until the 53.5 grain limit. It works and I'm happy with it. Rl 26 can be difficult to find. Not many dealers stock it. I would also suggest that if you have two pounds from separate lots to blend them together so that you have two pounds of consistent powder to load with. Powders such as Rl25/26 will often have different burn rates from lot to lot that is enough to create accuracy issues.
