Has anyone tried this stuff? I have 2 girls who want to hunt, they can shoot my 22-250 and 6mm fine. I would like to get a bigger gun for them 260rem or 7mm-08 would be great if the managed recoil ammo really reduces it by 50% like they say it does.
If they can fire a 6mm, I doubt a .260 would bother them much more. The 7mm-08 is only slightly harder on the shoulder in full power loadings.
I haven't tried the Managed Recoil ammo, as I can handload it myself cheaper, but magazine articles I have seen have confirmed it does work out to be very close to 50% reduction in most loadings. You do need to be mindful though, that reduced recoil, also reduces the effective range of the ammo from that of full power loadings.
I haven't tried the centerfire reduce-recoil ammo, but their 12g slug/buckshot are a lot easier on the shoulder... I would imagine same apply to rifle rounds.
The 6mm with the right bullet will do nicely for deer sized game. The 'Managed Recoil' ammo are just factory light loads. The 140 grain .260 sighted in at 100, drops like a brick past 200 yards(6" between 200 and 250). So does a 140 grain 7mm-08. Mind you, that's not likely an issue.
Of the two, the .260 retains energy longer.
