Hi guys,

My buddy wants to shoot a round of skeet tomorrow and I was thinking of taking my 590 (ghost ring) out to give it a try. I have shot skeet quite a few times with my old 870 Express, but I have never tried it with a combat shotgun. I have replaced the front balde with a brass bead to give me more visibility on my pistol targets that I am shooting slugs at; I just need to sight it in and I am golden.

Have any of you shot skeet with a setup like this? How well did it work for you? Are there any pointers I should know with regards to aiming?

Thanks,

Corey

I have heard of a few 590s, and I know at our little club quite a few including myself started with "tactical" shotguns. Not the best, but sure they work.

I noticed with my Mav'88 18.5 "barrel that you have to be on that clay as soon as it pops up from the trap. :D

Besides which it is a nice day shooting clays...so who cares if you aren't using a fancy OU shotgun. :)

I have shot skeet with my 590a1 . No problems at all.... acutally my buddies wanted to shoot my shotgun more then they wanted to shoot there's :D Just keep the skeet within the circle of the ghost ring sites, and you should be bang on. Obviosuly try to keep the skeet in the middle but there should be not a problem getting your hits as long as yours sites are zeroed in. Have a good shoot!!

I've shot my 870 with 18" barrel skeet. IC works great. Beat some guys with some fine shotguns and after the round heard them talking about it. Nice to know that a $400 dollar shotgun can beat one worth thousands :D .

I used to shoot clays with my dad and brother out at Cold Creek Conservation Area's range years ago with an 18" Winchester defender... Lotsa fun - and just as ditchpickle said, pretty hard to miss with a cylinder bore...

hsld.
