Anyone try a Sako75?

Incorrect on both counts. You'd need at least 200 yards. ;)

Nor is it an insult to Sako. It is however a demonstration that the poster is a person for whom appreciation of fine rifles is a yet to be acquired skill.

I,ve seen the 1" guarantee on the mod.85 but don't recall seeing it on the 75.
I've only known 1 sako that wasn't a shooter, a 30-06 hunter that frustrated the hell out of my hunting partner. Still, I don't think you can beat the Belgium Brownings for accuracy.

The Sako 75's have a 5 shot MOA gurantee before leaving the factory.

If you do some reading it does say somewhere that the 75's must shoot 5 shots

Have owned a few ;) , they are fine quality rifles.

Are you serious? Comparing a Savage to a Sako is like comparing a Lada to a Corvette. Tikkas are great shooters and good value but they are a poor second cousin to a Sako 75!
By the way Sakos are guaranteed to shoot one inch groups out of the box... no such guarantee for your high performance Savage.:p

Mark:

It is closer to say comparing a Chrysler to a Lexus.

The only thing holding me back for a Sako is the heavier weight. Well, maybe I will think again. :p

Never owned one, but have considerable respect for them.

Just fondled a new 85 Hunter in walnut/blue in .338 Federal. ...NICE !
IMHO, some much needed improvements over the older 75 Hunters.

As in my previous post, I'm an owner and fan of the 75 series...I thought the 85's were a joke when they came out. Having giving it some more thought, I'm really warming up to the 85's as an improved 75; the "safer" magazine system, the straight comb and the controlled round feed (even though it's not true CRF, I like that it will extract a cartridge without having to close the bolt).

I'm not crazy about the new checkering pattern but I'm sure it feels better than it looks. :D

If I want function above all else, then I'll use one of my Savages. All are extremely accurate, and none have ever given me any problems. They're also ugly and cheap enough to take anywhere and to do anything with.

If I want to revel in a super-smooth-operating bolt and ogle finely figured walnut and polished blued steel, then I'll give the nod to one of my Sakos...my AI .222 Hunter or my AV .375 Hunter, NOT the newer and infinitely less classy Model 75!
