Anyone try the Nikon prostaff 5 series scopes yet?

This is a brand new line to the Nikon lineup. It will essentially replace the Buckmaster series in our lineup. Should start seeing them on store shelves very shortly!

will Nikon maintain pricing that's comparable to US prices (since dollar is effectively 1:1)? last time i shopped for a nikon scope, i was put off by the price discrepancy (at least at SAIL, which is the only local place to have Nikon glass)... and since i'm currently in the market for a shotgun scope and a high-power rimfire scope, i'd like to know what to expect. :)

Curious about these as well. Prices seem to vary a lot though. Was looking at one online and it didnt seem much cheaper then the Monarch 3s.

Yes, you will see the price be much more comparable with US pricing going forward. Although our dollar is on par we are still a Japanese company so there is still some logistics in there however I think to support a Canadian dealer and sales force it will be a pretty easy choice. Along with the full Canadian lifetime warranty I hope you'll find the Canadian marketplace happy to have your business.

As for the price difference between Prostaff 5 and Monarch 3...keep in mind these two tiers are next to each other so there may be some overlap depending on the scope. However the Monarch is a one piece build with higher percentage of light transmission.

Thanks a bunch! Was looking at ones in the 5-20x range and it seemed like the price difference was minimal. Thought that they were a tier below the Monarchs so its good to know they are similar.

Am i to understand that if i purchase a nikon in the Us,it won't be warranteed by nikon Canada?

That is correct as the American warranty runs a bit differently then in Canada. They have a "No Fault" policy that you can buy into, ours is a manufacturer's warranty against defect for life in Canada.
