Anyone try the p226 legion RXP? Or p226 milled with red dot?

The main reason I thinking about the gun is the fact the new romeo1 pro is milled into slide so sits lower and you can co-witness.


The finish is pretty cool also.

I'd like to buy used to save some money but I know that won't be the case because its a newer model so not too many owners.

I thought I'd ask and see if any current or past owners have any thoughts?

Or if any p226 owners have had there p226 milled so they can use there rear sights. How is your experience

I have a p226 elite scorpion. Its amazing so I know its a good gun but it wouldn't hurt to have a 2nd with red dot.
 
I bought the P320 x five Legion (with the Romeo Pro 1) back in June. Prior to this I've flipped 2 Kimber 1991s and a Glock 34....I don't think I will be selling the Sig anytime soon.... I love this gun. Initially I had the Romeo set up to co-witness but my best friend convinced me to set the dot to the middle of the window. I like this way much better... find I am just as accurate as the co-witness but acquire the target 3 times faster!
 
So to move the dot to the middle, you shim the base to keep on PoA? I did that on a 1911, as I was running out of range, that is a dovetail mount.
 
I have a 226 that Black Box Customs milled for an RMR. I have the "suppressor" sights and co-witness perfectly with the dot. It cost about $200 for the machining all said and done with cerakote on the slide. The sights were on top of that cost.

Well worth the investment and great service in getting it done. I also have a FNX 45 Tac. that has a RMR and a 629 with an RMR mount. If I could afford it I would have an RMR on every pistol I own. You will not regret getting it done once you learn how to use it.

I am looking at getting this very thing done to one of my 226 slides, so it's nice to know that yours turned out OK and the price seems pretty reasonable. Did you have to fully strip the side before sending it in? And was BB able to sell / install the sights too, or did you source those separately?
 
I'm in Calgary so they wanted me to bring in the complete pistol. It is better that way so they can make sure everything fits as it should when they are done. They did say they could get the sights but would have to order them so I picked them up at a local store and took them in with the pistol. They installed them and gave a complete gun when done.
 
I contacted Black Box about getting my slide milled, but they said the milling service ($210) required a mandatory cerakote for the slide ($150). I was told that the cerakote is not optional, so I'm going to have to look elsewhere.

I was told that, when I refused the refinishing ( I have a working gun, not IG gun #### ) I asked them where is this policy posted? So you cannot say that this service cost this much, when there is the hidden refinishing fee. I'm not impressed and hope he rethinks what the customer wants.
 
Well I ended up going with Auscan Tactical for my milling work. Apparently mine was the first P226 slide they'd ever done, and the milling was top notch. Turnaround was also fast (2 weeks). The fit for my HS407 is snug and they milled it low enough to give me a nice co-witness with the Trijicon Suppressor sights. I provided the sights, and they were kind enough to install it for free as part of the slide cut service.

Unlike Black Box Customs, they didn't insist on forcing me to buy a Cerakote service on top of the slide milling. If I had opted to do Cerakote through Auscan though, it would have been cheaper than what BBC was quoting.
