Anyone use a Kalinka scope on there SKS? (what type of scope/sights do you use?)

I am think of buying a kalinka POSP 4x24 w/ 400 Meter Rangefinder Rifle Scope, SKS/SVD Version. I was wondering if anyone has used one and what they thought of it.

Also what kind of sights do you SKS hunters use just the iron sights of some type of scope? I you use a scope how is it mounted?
 
While a scope mount that replaces the receiver cover is generally poo-pooed on this forum (and I agree), I have used one to great success...holds zero really well. It's a see through mount so i can still use irons. It took me quite a few hours to tinker and fit the mount to the receiver so it wouldnt move. But i think i got lucky...it seems like almost no one else has had great success, and i wouldnt try it again.
I would have used kalinka stuff but i didnt have the money at the time. If u can afford the time and money, go for it.
 
I've got a Kalinka side mount, but I haven't installed it on my rifle yet. I didn't go for the POSP scope, instead I bought a weaver rail mount ($35 in the bargain bin, IIRC). I'll keep you posted ;)

I hope you bought two! :D

A little while back I got to use an SKS with a Kalinka mount and the scope you are looking at...I really liked it allot, and loved that it wasn't in the way for loading, use of Iron sights or take down cleaning.

Gee almost like this is what was meant for these rifles, and their AK cousins.
These are not pretty scopes, but they seem to work well for what we (and Russian Military) need.

Also the red illuminated reticule with it's range finder with bullet drop is the cats ass. (if your not a cat owner this means this is a good thing.)

Does the kalinka scope mount include the little rail that you actually attach to the rifle or do you have to buy that seperately?
 
from what I have read on their site I believe the side rail mounts are separate, are listed elsewhere on their site, and there are a few types, but they are standard that will fit all the mounts.

I know they have one that comes with-out holes so you can customize your own hole locations. And another is a thin profile so you don't have to remove too much SKS stock. And then the regular issued ones of course.
