Anyone use a reflex sight for hunting?

Considering one for a short range set up

How well can you see through them in the rain?

Or does a guy just try to keep it dry when sitting in a stand?

I put a Fastfire III on my kids rifle to cut weight, and for a nasty windy rainy day in the timber I've grabbed his rifle, easier to use in the rain/slush then a scope. It has a quick detach see through cover also.

I've only had irons and scope for hunting, but I'm looking at putting a reflex sight on my 30-30 for inside 100. My eyes are not the best and have a real hard time with lots of irons and a reflex sight just seem more logical for bushwacking.

Where did you get the quick detach cover?
Might it be possible to post a photo?

I have the FastFireIII on my h&r 20 gauge rifled tracker. Awesome IMHO.

I got the FF3 off the EE - turned out that it had a big scratch and the battery cover was stripped. $30 to send it off to Burris in Denver. Several weeks later I got a new unit. Great warranty service.

Rain isn't so bad, although I do use the cover 90% of the time and I often camp out in a blind. The cover comes with the unit.

I've used an aimpoint sight on a Heym SR-30 for deer hunting. I also have an aimpoint on a CZ452. For any hunting situation where shots are likely to be within 100 yards and where quick shooting is important I think reflex type sights are excellent.

I use a reflex on my crossbow which is "no more than" 40 yards.

I like it because you can shoot with both eyes open which I find is an advantage when shooting "close".

I have considered it for my Turkey shotgun (for the same reasons), but prefer "magnified glass" on my rifles.
