Anyone use premium bullets other than Barnes or Nosler?

For those who use/used the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw, I also had great luck with them as well. Problem is they are hard to find now. I again will recommend trying the Swift A-Frame. It penetrates just as well or better, expands as wide, but has a much cleaner mushroom than the bear claw. Any TBBC that I have recovered had dropped a little lead and jacket, and are always somewhat jagged. The Swift A-Frame will come out nice, wide, even, and smooth. The back end of the bullet seems to deform much less as well.

Good luck!

I loaded some Woodleigh (Australian) bullets this year for my Husqvarna .30-06 (180 gr.)

Those resulted in this group- using my day pack for a rest.

Which subsequently resulted in this freezer filler.

Have used Speer Grand Slam bullets and always keep them on standby. I have reluctantly moved over to Barnes TSX to see how they do - still waiting for the first field test! There have been comments about accuracy. I am getting sub-MOA out of my Tikka T3 firing 300 WSM, 180 grn GS, 2900 fps. The GS have apparently been recently re-designed to a single core, whereas the former version was a dual core. Old GS bullets I used out of other calibres gave me slightly bigger than MOA.

GS bullets have never let me down and have delivered superb performance on deer, bear, and moose. One .30 cal 180 grn bullet I recovered from a moose weighed 160 grns meaning it dissipated good energy into the animal.

I've got some 200 gr 30 cal A-Frames to try out for accuracy in my 300 WM. It's between them, 200 TSX or 200 Partitions for Africa. Whichever one shoots best.
