Given the recent popularity of the Chinese Aimpoint clones, has anyone tried the Chinese ACOG (FAKOG?) clone yet?

Is it similar in quality and performance to the "chaimpoint", or is it total ass?

I hope it's not violating CGN rules in this case, but I'll provide fleabay links to the two models I've seen available. One is a 1X red-dot that just looks like an ACOG (cheaper) and the other is a closer copy that actually does magnify and has a mildot reticle:

Airsoft knock-offs...waste of money, unless you aren't planning on actually using it on a real firearm. However, as the ad says, super cool looks! I thought about 'em before, but I think you're better off taking the $100-$200 bucks one of these will cost you (with shipping/custom duty/tax) put it in a jar and add $25-$50 to it out of every pay cheque until you can afford to buy a good, used one here on CGN or buy a new one from a legit dealer like TSE, Wolverine, etc...

Did I not see a thread not long ago about the US manufacturer suing the Chinese for selling ACOG knock off in US? Guess the thread was toast when OT got nuked.

I don't know guys. My M-305 is pretty solid stuff and so is my Aimpoint clone.

I think we should not be so hasty in our conclusions unless someone has had some true quality time with this scope.

I'm not defending chinese made stuff mind you, but so far I'm getting pretty decent bang for my buck.

couple guys at a match last weekend had problems with their aimpoint knockoffs. turning off and on or just dying from rapid fire. you get what you pay for.

As they say, "only one way to find out".

I have picked up a a few Chinese dot reflex scopes and was very impressed with their quality. Looks like they were taken right off the big name production line. All for dirt cheap.

They produce so many products for all the big names that some tech 'sharing' must go on (copyright protection - what's that?). Optical quality has never been a strong suit of a Chinese product but that can change in a heartbeat. Coatings were also not as good.

I noticed on one auction that they were carrying Tasco Super Sniper scopes. Externally looked good. Anyone got a few hundred bucks to go find out?

Unfortunately, there lies the problem.

The optics for sale on ebay specifically state that they're for airsoft but supposedly will work for actual firearms as well. I guess you can pay your money and take your chances, but I think I'd save my pennies and buy the real thing when I can afford it. Heck, you're better off buying a Bushnell Holosight if you're on a tight budget. At least you know that'll stand up to the actual recoil of a firearm. I'm sure the chinese knock-offs will improve with time, but I don't think I'd want to chuck a couple of hundred bucks just for the look cool factor and be left with a non-functioning sight.

There was a previous thread about this same product. One of these airsoft ACOGs were used during our Alberta service rifle Provincials last month.

It performed as one would expect for an airsoft knockoff...

The shooter (very good shooter) was unable to finish the match, due to the sight failing to maintain any point of aim after approx half the match was complete.

Ya gets what ya pay for.

Probably works well during airsoft, but I will never be able to comment on that.

Neither will It.

that being said, some of the e-bay sights are not in the sub-$200 range. Some are in the $300 range and claim to be copies of real ACOGs except without tritium and state they are designed for rifle fire.

Alas, I don't think I want to spend $300 on a FAKOG to see if it works or not???

We had a member show up the range not too long ago with his new chinese made knock off red dot. Yes it looked great, but on his first shot the front lens cracked. If you want to spend money on optics pay as much as you can afford for a quality item. Your optic could and should outlast your rifle. You will never regret buying quality.
