Got a Dterminator recently, I had heard from some reliable sources that these were a great electronic scale. I have an older RCBS electronic, but thought I deserved an upgrade.
I was using the Dillon other day in the same manner I used my RCBS , which is to dump a load from a powder throw a grain or 2 light then trickle the weight up to the spec I want. Well I would trickle a fair number of granules of powder and the reading would not change, so checked the weight on my old RCBS , and found I was 3 grains or more over what I needed.
I naturally assumed that there was a problem with my scale, I followed all the instructions , to no avail.
Next day called Dillon and was told that the Dterminator scale would not accept trickled in powder, just weighed the "burst" from the weight of the powder "dumped" into the pan.
Is it me or is this really odd? How many guys would spend the money for an electronic scale that works in this manner?
Any feedback would be welcomed.

Walter I suspect you are correct, but the funny thing is that nowhere in their info or instructions does it say anything along that line.

Frenchman, Yes I have looked at them, I had a Lyman autoscale some time ago but found it very slow, and not terribly accurate, so am hesitant to try the newer versions that look nearly identical to the old Lyman, the other thing is will they allow for 230 grain charges? I have not looked into the new 1s, have you got 1 and what are your thoughts?

Maybe try re-calibrating the scale and making sure there is nothing on the pan or weighing surface
Thanks Already have done this several times just to be sure it was not something I was doing wrong, I called Dillon and this is who told me it was not a scale that could be trickled into, which is what I thought was weird. Dillon usually makes really good stuff and past experiences with customer service have been very positive, this however has me wondering .
When you trickle into yours does it take many kernels of powder before it rereads the weight? As posted mine needs 3 full grains of weight before the reading will change, which could be a disaster if working in the higher end charges.

It only takes a couple of kernals to change the number, it is very sensitive but always tracks upward as the weight is increased. There is no lag time.

I was just loading some .45GAP rounds to try some things out. My scale seems to work perfect. My load was 4.6gr. of Titegroup with 200gr. bullet. My powder measure on my Dillon is set to drop about 4.2-4.4 grains with the initial drop, I used a trickler to bring them up to weight. A few kernals is all it takes to move my scale, it takes only seconds to reach my desired 4.6 charge and the scale levels out.

I would complain about yours and see if you can get a new one, something is not right with yours, this is not something you should expect from something that says "Dillon" on it.

This is exactly how my old RCBS scale works, and how I thought the new Dillon should, I will call them again and see what they say this time, as their previous explanation just is not what I wanted, but thought I should see what others experiences were first.

Thanks to all that replied, I will let you know what they say.
