Have handled an M&P, but not the Pro. Is there a notable difference?
Also, I like the idea of a 5in barrel, does it noticeably help your sight picture, etc.
They appear to be difficult to track down so any thoughts from a hands on user would be appreciated before making the effort.

have a M&P9L the long version so barrel is 5" regular white dot sights no mag safety. had the regular 4.2 before found mag safety a bit of a pain for ipsc. transition was smooth between the two not a lot of muzzle jump same trigger pull as others. good gun if you can find one.

I have one, and love it. Feels great in my hands, and shoots like a top. Weight distribution is well done, and the pistol feels balance and natural.

Sorry, don't have a ton of experience with the standard length M&P 9, so feel unqualified to comment on that.

Cheers,
Cal.

I have the pro and my buddy has the standard one. They both shoot very well. I like the f/o front sight. I don't think there is a really big difference between them

I also like the F/O front sight, my poor old man eyes! The trigger is a little better on the Pro. The larger sight radius doesn't make a huge difference, I prefer it. The M&P is a "combat" pistol, it's accurate enough for the intended purpose.

This. I have owned both and agree. My M&P 9, I installed the Apex sear. My Pro I use out of the box, but with a 4lb(?) striker spring I installed. As set up, they shoot pretty much the same. The only real differences between stock models is the trigger pull/reset and the F/O sight.

I found the longer barrel of the Pro was better balanced for me, much improved over the 4.25" model IMHO. Also, the improved trigger, FO front sight and lack of mag safety all a bonus.
