Edit:

X-Reload will take care of communicating and sending back the die to forster for repair/replace. They will also custom fit the die to my rifle.
Will post once I get the die back.

I bought a forster die from x reload and it got here full of debris inside. I cleaned it of all the gunk, and it was full of tool marks inside.
I tried sizing brass and obviously it was rough and scratched the brass.

Forster advertises hand polishing of the dies before and after the heat treatment.
I contacted them and need to send the die to them for repair/replace.

Did that happen to anyone else? I though that forster dies were good...
Probably buying redding next time.

At that point, I am wondering if I should actually mail it back to forster, and pay like 20$ shipping, or just buy a redding die and not even bother with forster and mailing back to the usa.....
Opinions?

I also bought their benchrest seater die, didn't have time to use it yet, but I feel like I regret that purchase already.
Anyone using forster dies and having good success?

Thanks

I have a few sets of older Forester dies and they are things of beauty inside and out. IIRC they are fully guaranteed for life. Email them and send the die back. Don't bother to send an empty cartridge case you used in the die. I suspect that somehow this die got out without going through the quality control inspection.

My sizing dies are polished to mirror finishes. I have a set of small base 308win dies and 7x57 dies from them.

I have a BR seater and though it isn't the nicest finished tool on the outside it is all good inside and works VERY well. My only regret is not ponying up for the mic but not enough to run out and buy another just for that. Everyone makes mistakes, don't shove off a top brand for one defect. Reloading tool companies live and die by 2 things: value and customer satisfaction. Lee makes the cheapest tools in the game by a long stretch but still takes good care of its customers. All others are so much more expensive that if they slight their customers they slight themselves. Reloaders are a small tight-knit group and word travels fast. Just send them an email or give them a call and politely explain the situation and they'll politely fix it.

Ok, 5 weeks later, I finally got my die back.

It now has decent interior finish. (not stellar, decent). The lee dies have a much better interior finish actually.
I asked them to hone the neck to 335 (they cant do 336 for some reason?)
Going to give me 3 mils of tension on lapua brass. Should work fine.

Thanks to x reload for helping me with the forster repair.
