Anyone using Vihtavuori for 308?

I have a jug of V-N140, was wondering if anyone has had success using this powder in 308? Thanks!

I have and use quite a bit of Vihtavuori powders. I find them great performers with very consistent, lot-to-lot quality.
The N140 is close to the IMR4064/4320/Varget/Reloder 15 burn rates.
I have VV N133, 135, 140, 540, 150, 550, 160, 560, 165, 170, and 570. Only the N570 is a "coarse" extruded powder,
the rest are quite dense, and allow good charge weights. Dave.

Thanks for the reply! I've got a Tikka varmint in 308, 1:11 bore, was thinking 155gr FMJBT or Spitzer. Any recipes you care to share? (usual caveats understood)

They burn very, very clean.

Op, FWIW,

I have completed some ladder tests for 7mm-08 (308 derivative) and in my limited experience compared to Ganderite's I would agree. There's only one other powder I have found to be "cleaner".

I purchased some more VV recently because of what Dave offered previously as his experiences, and so far the results look promising for development of a new hunting round. Currently, if I can plan and manage to purchase in person, the price per pound is a little better than other my other proven hunting round for this cartridge.

Regards
Ronr

I've used a fair bit of N150, 45-46gr works great with 155's. N160 worked excellent in my 260rem.
I haven't tried N140 yet but I plan to get some.

There is not much difference between N140 and N150. Maybe 1 gr in 155/308.

If I was loading 155 and 168, I would buy N150. For just 155, I would use N140.

I have used both with 155s. N150 fills the case.
