Chris, I am working with a new barrel supplier and things come together, they have the capacity to look at non 308 m1a barrels BUT there needs to be a bulk buy so it will need a lot of others shooters on board.

Can it be done? Yes... will it happen soon, no.

Likely the first one will be 6.5 Creedmoor as there are far more interest in this chambering.

Ask the question to other shooters you know if they are interested in custom order M1A barrels? I have asked this question off and on but the response has always been spotty.

We can't do it unless there is firm commitment for a larger number of units.

Thanks

Jerry

They will get at least one order for 243win from me.

If the barrels would be less than $400/each you have my interest, since I'd likely put it on a Norc because M1As aren't worth the 2k irunguns wants.

I could be wrong but even with a "bulk" buy it seems a lot of machining compared to a regular contour barrel to be under 400? I hope I'm wrong! I'd trade my left nut for a 243. A Zero recoil, coyote slaying, crow popping, space bear shooting, stop yer dink from fallin off M305 for me please.

All I said was that I'm interested provided the price is reasonable (to me under $400 because my local gunstore sells the M305s for $700) and I'm not spending the cost of the rifle again on a new barrel. Because I can get my norc tuned up for about $300 by a guy who specializes in this stuff.

Even a criterion 22" .308 barrel is around $450? These will likely be more than that because of tooling/design costs... Figure another $350ish for a USGI gas system? Install?... Probably end up around $1000 by the time it's all said and done...
