Hey everyone,

I'm looking for someone who can build me a military rifle replica off of a Ruger 10/22. It would require a faux suppressor, wood stock modification, and barrel threading. Does anyone know any good gun smiths who can take on this type of work?

Try Mark aka Motiuk aka b-wingpilot. He does clones and modifications.

If it is the wood stock version I don't think it needs much. Open up the stock and a fake suppressor. What else?

Harris bipod and a Leupold on top?

To cobble together a lookalike...
Bit of lathe work needed. A piece of aluminum tube needed. Turn a bushing with OD of tube ID that will be a snug fit on the barrel back toward the breech. Turn off the front sight base. Make a bushing to fit here that slides into the tube. Tube is now supported at both ends. Assemble with JB Weld. Hog out the stock. Finish tube with rattle can black matte.
If the tube needs to be longer than the 10/22 barrel and will extend out beyond the muzzle, don't install an end piece with a small diameter exit hole. That would create a large expansion chamber that just might muffle the shot a bit. An end piece with a tube extending back to the muzzle would avoid this.
Anyway, creating a visual lookalike would not be particularly hard to do.

I want to use a 20" barrel. the can dimensions are 17x1.5. I know in theory it wouldn't be a hard build, I'm just not good with this stiff so looking forsome who is and will take on the job.

A 17" tube would shroud a 20" barrel quite nicely, muzzle of barrel flush with end of tube. 1 1/2" OD aluminum tube is a standard size. A few inches of aluminum barstock would be needed to make the breech and muzzle support bushings.
Just checked, aircraftspruce.ca lists 6061 aluminum 1 1/2" round bar @$42.50/ft. 6061 1 1/2" tube with .065 wall is $18.60/ft. Both sold by the foot. The raw materials are going to cost something over $100 delivered. Figure a couple of hours of shop time to machine the aluminum pieces and fit to the barrel.

Too bad I'm not home, would snap a pic of basically what Tiriaq is saying. As he done something like that for me..

If you got a 20" HBAR, you could make the shroud supports easy from shaft collar locks. .920 is close to 1 inch, just may need a shim Clamp to the barrel, may need to turn the OD a bit, id make a shoulder to stop the shroud on the collars. Could use a screw under to secure the shroud to the stops.

No, they were killing people because they thought that .22 wasn’t lethal
The shooter was trained to kill, under stress, that’s what happens

You shouldn't need a gunsmith for that, all it needs is a fake can,
The fake can will require a bunch of machine work to build. Rear mount, front mount and possibly internal bore tube to make it not a silencer.

Liberty Suppressors is who makes the actual suppressor in the US. I haven't called them yet.
Why would you call a US silencer manufacturer? Do you really expect they would be interested in such a job that has to cross an international border?

I would be curious to know the barrel length on the genuine IDF version
Probably 16" as that would be an OEM bbl length they would get from the US and it would work fine with the suppressor length as seen in the pics.

"Might muffle the shot a bit?" I can assure you 100% it would muffle the shot quite a lot.

It's been a while but weren't they supposed to be shots to the knee?
The story I read was they were shooting Arab protestors in the nards. There are two major arteries that run close by that area so not a lot of room for error if one is attempting a remote castration on a moving target.

In the article I linked to they said it was 10".

+1. Shooting in the leg/knee/groin is asking for a hole in the femoral artery and that equals death in only a few minutes, even with immediate medical attention.
