Anyone with experience mailing once fired brass to CA from the UK?

Hey all,

Just like the title says- I've got a close acquaintance in the UK who is sitting on a fair amount of once fired 303 and 455 brass, once fired- uncleaned- and with their spent primers still in place

Under the assumption that I would never be able to bring the brass in a carry on or checked baggage, does anyone have any experience in shipping this kind of brass overseas?

Sure you can put "brass" on the shipping declarations and give it a go, but I'm wondering if anyone has any actual experience or advice in getting this done legally

Any constructive feedback would be much appreciated

a couple of years ago I ordered once fired 6.5x55 brass from Sweden.didnt have any problems getting it.im not sure what was on the package for a description though
 
Your friend will have to find out if there are export restrictions. Import into Canada is a non-issue.
If it can be exported, you may find that the cost of delivery is substantial. Might not be worth it for .303. Make sure the brass is Boxer primed.
 
What makes you assume you can't bring it as checked in luggage?
It's brass metal casings, not loaded ammunition/explosive anymore.
 
Just out of curiosity, I googled "UK export controls on brass cartridge cases". Give it a try.

I had taken a look before, from the best of my reading of the gov.uk site brass would either be exempt or under the Schedule 2 but possibly exempt as "personal effects". Shame there isnt some resource to reach out and clarify whether or not brass is considered part of that vague "related material"
