Anyone with extensive experience building on savage actions?

Unfortunately, my action and your action have very different firing pin set ups. As long as you are getting consistent ignition, then go for it. I am very leery about weak firing pin springs causing all sorts of problems on target and if you plan to shoot alot, springs can wear out. I am unsure who makes a replacement for your style.

One of the biggest flaw of the Axis was the "dumbing" down of the firing pin system. I guess it saved enough cause it has spread to some double digit actions. Not something I would choose in my rigs.

Something to keep an eye on.

For the mid case 6.5's, all very similar in outcome. I am very happy with my 6.5 Creedmoor choice. Components continue to drop in price and rise in quality and options. For the amount I shoot, that makes a big difference in the budget.

But both the 6.5-47L and 260Rem have been used to excellent effect in F class and the Lapua continues to be very popular in PRS circles. A bit of eenie meenie here.

Given that my current setup, is also a 10TR, i should upgrade firing pin spring asap?
I imagine better ignition could make my es and sd smaller...

Edit : is this what i want?

^ I don't think anyone is questioning Savage's ability to be a good shooter. Accuracy is more indicative of a quality barrel and chambering/gunsmith work. An action just simply delivers and then extracts ammunition from the chamber.

Where people are critical of Savages is their poor QA/QC, build quality, and their features.

But that is really neither here nor there, as the OP has determined that a Savage will fit his purposes. Just wanted to address the above comments as they incorrectly address people's criticism of Savage actions and rifles.

My buddy had a 10TR that couldn't sight in a scope with as it would shoot for the moon,
My factory 10TR barrel was roughly cut inside and would copper up badly in a short period of time,
I'm really not a fan of factory savage barrels, just like how I can screw a new one in pre chambered, without calling or dealing with anyone.

At face value, I only use their receiver bolt combo.
Once in a chassis with an aftermarket trigger, barrel, scope rail, I swear I can hold a steady sub 2/3 moa all day with this setup, with a good portion of it sub 1/2 when I work hard,
After some amount of research, the floating bolt head is forgiving when ammo has runout and helps align ammo better (or so I have read).

Now that action has proven to be a great DYI'er for me, I am looking to give it a few tweaks.
As it feeds like a king, any mags I have tried just work wonders, compared to something else much more expensive I had tried.
If what Jerry says about poor consistent ignition in factory spring, and putting a new spring in helps, another good thing settled for me.
I am also disappointed of the weak ejection, in service rifle staying in the same position I do not foresee this being a problem, if ever I dip in PRS and get positional, I can imagine certain scenarios where it would be less ideal.

I agree about weak ejection, though I wonder how hard it would be to remedy? My 10T-SR is the same, the angled surface of the ejector pin might be the culprit I think. Has anyone tried replacing the pin with a round or square nose version?
In the F-class matches that I shoot, weak ejection is a plus IMO. I'd rather pick up brass next to the rifle than chase it 4 feet away with my Tikka.

I would suggest you take your bolt apart and send me some pics. There are at least 2 firing pin versions and I suspect maybe 3...

I believe, those Wolff springs are for my gen of action only.
