Anything bad to say about crossfire II scopes?

Hi,

I'm trying to find a scope to put on my BCL102 and I would like to try out a vortex product but I have spent a lot of gun stuff lately and I'd like to get something that's not too insanely priced. Any tips or info appreciated.

The big issue with them is I'd rather have a 30 mm tube because I already have mounts for 30mm and if whatever scope I get I may try at some point on my savage 10. The only 30mm crossfire I can find is the 6-24x50AO
 
Don't know how you can say anything bad about them. They are an entry level scope, as has been noted, but they are still covered under the Vortex warrantee. Heard the owner of a LGS tell a customer that the Bushnell warrantee didn't apply to their lower end scopes, only to the "Elite" line. Don't know if he was trying to upsell or not, but it made me wonder.

I've had issues with 2 Crossfire scopes over the years. First one was years ago, when you could just take it back to the place of purchase and they handed you another one. Last one was a couple years ago. Contacted a really nice lady at thier service center. Sent it in, and had a replacement in my hands in 2 weeks. How can you say bad things about that.
 
If I had 2 problems with a scope brand I would switch scope manufacturers regardless of warranty. To me it means they stand behind their scopes, which is good, but they are still working out how to make them properly, which is bad.
 
I've had a crossfire II 6-24x50 on bolt 308 for 300-400 rounds, some hard hitting ones mixed in there.
Rifle has previously blown two cheaper scopes over the years. Crossfire to me has been great glass for the money.
The tracking isn't as accurate as I'd like out at distance so its getting replaced for that reason only.
 
I have a Scout scope from this range and I confirm some nasty quality glass has been used. I was too cheap to get sonething decent and kinda regret it now.

I have to put 50 more down the barrel before I will use it for hunting. It is not looking hopeful. Personally I would recommend up grading to avoid disappointment.

I haven't had one, but the only person I know that did have one also had problems with it.
Considering they cost more than some bushnells, I generally avoid them. In that price class I think there are better choices... and I really like my older diamondback 3-9 and 4-12AO.
 
2 problems over the years, for the amount of them I've had, isn't as bad as it sounds. These are their "entry level" scopes, and if you're going to have problems this would probably be the line that would have them, especially on larger caliber rifles. I've never had a problem with a viper or above.

not sold on them after some of these comments haha.

I looked through a strike eagle as an option early on and I thought it was really nice but I was looking for something with more magnification.. Does anyone have any recommendations of something around that price range or not too much higher that might be similar clarity and quality?
 
I am so thru with Bushnell it's not even funny: stopped buying them about 5 years ago. Never had good performance from them including some of their higher end stuff: tracking issues, reticle failure and poor glass.

One Bushnell left here to sell and I sure won't buy any more Bushie chit.
I had a Diamond Back that came with a rifle I purchased and it grew wings pretty quick too.

Leupold has earned my respect on more than a few occasions.
No nonsense clear lenses for some reason my crappy shewt'in eye likes.

If you like what yer shewt'in, you will shoot it well.

I've had a bushnell rep tell me this also. Only its 2 separate warranties. The trophy line and above have the no questions asked lifetime warranty and below the trophy line is a limited lifetime warranty.

Used their elite scopes for years on cf rifles and they are on par with the leupold vx-1 line.
Have used mostly leupold vx-2s and 3s since as my goto scopes.
The bushy trophy and legend lines of scopes are good enough for 22s.

Had a rem 742 30-06 with a bushy scopechief iv 2.5-8x40 which I sold a couple of years ago and the scope was performing satisfactorily.

Recently (last year or the year before I think?) they changed what was covered by what warranty. Now more stuff is covered by the full coverage warranty (not sure if everything is covered or not though.)

My Axis came with a cheap Bushnell. Held up to over 200 rds of 270 before it ended up on my 243. Bought my friend a older used Banner off the EE for like $45, with rings, for his 30-06 and it hasn't broken yet, 2 years later. Maybe I've just had good luck with em, but I'd buy another cheap bushnell if I needed a cheap scope.

Can't say anything about the crossfires, but I have a Vortex Viper 1" tube model on my 270 now and I really like it.
