Anywhere sell the Stoeger Condor not way over MSRP?

Not always true. I find with the more popular hunting rifles and pistols, the prices are right on the nose regardless of the exchange rate.

For example, I bought my savage MkII from canadian tire for 124$ and it was the same price listed on the manufacturers website.

The MSRP includes retail markup, that's where the R comes from. And the US generally has higher taxes on firearms if I'm not mistaken. The shipping cost per gun on a case of 10 is minimal.

??

Not sure why you would want one anyways, the two I have owned were garbage!! Try the EE for a cheap o/u , a few yildiz in there right now, not great either but way better than stoeger

yeah im not even going to get into this discussion again.
most Canadian retailers charge more on specialty items because they can.
each year more and more people choose to spend their hard-earned money across the border - eventually itll hurt Canadian retailers sales enough and prices will come down. until then, ill be spending my money across the border - even with echange rate, shipping, and customs dinging me its still cheaper enough for it to be worth it.

I am also looking to get one cheap, anyone found anythign cheaper then $450?

EDIT - oops scratch that I am looking for a condor outback.

Thanks,

J.

Wow, the Canadian Tire stores around here haven't carried firearms for years!
I suspect things may have changed since you bought your MKII.

FWIW, since 911 the US has put "stupid" restrictions on the export of certain firearms related items and accessories such as barrels, scopes, receivers, tactical accessories, firearms, etc..

Export is possible but now requires an export permit from the US Department of State. As with any government permit the cost can be huge for these permits. That cost ends up carrying forward to the Canadian MSRP.

For example as a retailer I tried to import some rifle scopes. The manufacturer was very agreeable and anxious to sell to me as long as I bought at least $5000.00 worth each order as anything less wasn't worth it to them to get the export permit.

Canadian Tire in Calgary does currently carry guns. He could have bought it last week.

^^^ I agree with you by the way. I'd add everyone complains that dealers are overcharging but they aren't the ones having to lay out the cash for an inventory while everyone tire kicks.

Some Canadian Tire stores sell guns, others do not, it's at the discretion of the dealer. Furthermore each Canadian Tire store is responsible for the purchase and sale of it's own inventory and that's why there is so much variety, even at the same store over time.

Because most CT stores are individually owned and operated they are more sensitive to consumer comments than some other stores. If you want more firearms and firearms stuff at your local CT, get some buddies together and let the owner know!
