I have a No.1 I'd like to put an aperture sight on. What are my options? I have a mojo sight and it is ok but not great - I would like something closer to my eye. Not worried about having to modify the rifle, it's a sporter anyways. I've looked into the PH sights but they are very expensive. Do any other companies make something similar?

Spring for a PH5A which is the correct sight for your rifel. Use it for ten years and sell it for more than you spent. Money is meant to be spent. The proper sight is a joy to use especially with old eyes! Dave...PS - they are usually between $150.00 and 200.00. Dave

Williams Gunsights makes two models. Their model number is FP-SMLE-TK. Code # 1364. $82.50US. And Model 5D-SMLE. Code # 1420. $38.95US. Both listed under their 'Classic Receiver Sights'. Likely available in most gun shops here though. Drilling and tapping is required.

If the rifle is unaltered don't be drilling any holes in it.
An alternative to the PH5A sight is a Central mounting plate with a Central No. 4 sight, or one of the clones of the Central.
Either of these is a superior sighting arrangement intended for serious target shooting.

Bubba went at the barrel with a hacksaw, so I'm not worried about altering it. I'm mostly just looking for an aperture sight to make it more fun to shoot. Thanks!
