April Purchases

I believe it's meant for a G/K43. The mount looks to be a reproduction - maybe the scope too, but I'm not an expert on the ZF 4 scopes.

Correct on the mount.
Scope is recent repro from Meopta, which made the "dow" marked scopes during the war and the postwar ZF4 scopes for Czechoslovakia.

Wartime production of ZF4s might have been marked with the rifle type and serial number. "L" was used by Luftaffe on Fg42, maybe some G/k43s.

I have already been able to grind most of it off, and a few passes with a file and a cold blue should take care of that. It will have scope mounts over top of it anyways.

We'll have to try out our "GAUDY" crest rifles side by side next time I'm up your way. Mine's a tack driver with a six o'clock hold and Hornady 196gr.

Just picked up my first Longbranch No.4 MK1/3.

I think it was FTR'd at the Fazakerley plant in 52.

Original serial number is 56L4###, which matches bolt and forestock.

Re-marked /52.56L4### with a /3(F)FTR after the No4 MKI* in electro-pencil.

Bore is nice and clean with good rifling and I can't wait to see it shoot. =)

Got my Gew!

First off, a big thank you to Nabs for all his info-sharing here in CGN about Gewehr 98s, and his putting up with my questions as I moved from "Thinking about a Gew 98" to active search for a Gew to add. Cheers, Nabs.

Search is now over...

All-matching, down to the screws, but for the bolt, which is completely matching to itself and a couple of hundred numbers off that of the rifle.

Rifle served with the Prussians; the 4th Company of the 11th Jaeger Battalion. (I have some research to do there, now)

Need to get a cleaning rod now...

I just received a few interesting guns...

A Japanese T-26 revolver in 9mm Japanese revolver which I actually imported from the States via Clay at Prophet River.

I also purchased a Belgian Mauser M1889/36 made by the Manufacture d'Armes de l'Etat , a really cool update of the M1889 to fall in line with the M1935 that replaced it. The really interesting feature to me is that they actually converted the #### on closing 1889 bolt to #### on openning.

I also picked up this India Pattern Brown Bess musket from a board member, made sometimes between the introduction of the reinforced #### in 1809 and the death of George IV in 1830. I don`t think it`s entirely original, but for what I paid I don`t expect it to be.
