Hello, I'm new on CGN and I am currently looking at getting my RPAL. I currently have my PAL but before I attempt to get my RPAL I have a few questions about getting an ATT. From what I understand there are two forms of ATT a temporary one time use one and a long term one for up to five years. What I'm wondering is can you get a temporary one day ATT to go to a shooting range without having a range membership.

The one best answer you will get is to phone your provincial CFO. They issue the short & long term Att's.
Oh yes, welcome to CGN.

Not too sure if I understand your question... If you owned a restricted firearm, you would have a long term ATT - this ATT may have wording like so "... firearms may be transported to a range that the holder is a member or guest of in the province of ***"
So, if you wanted to bring your restricted to any range as a member or guest you only need the one ATT.

I'm thinking calling the CFO for Alberta would be the best option but to clarify the question was, do I need to have a range membership to get a temporary ATT to go to the range for a day of shooting. Or is it possible for me to get a long term ATT even without a range membership.

In Ontario, no (may be different for Alberta), to the best of my knowledge you need to be a member of, and in good standing with, a registered gun range equipped to handle restricted firearms. Now, to whether you're able to obtain a STATT (short term att) without being a member of a range is unknown to me. That would definitely need to be investigated with Alberta's cfo.

Do they give ATT on sat ? So mad right. I was supposed to get an short term i needed it for tomorrow and they never called me back. Now I can't take my handgun to the range tomorrow.

"...a range membership..." Hi. You join a shooting club, not a range.
Every Province is different. Despite the gun laws being Federal. Most are insisting you have a club membership to shoot restricted firearms. Calling the CFC might help, but I doubt it. 1-800-731-4000
Joining a shooting club isn't a bad thing though. Opens all kinds of doors and you'll meet some truly fabulous people who will go out of their way to help you. Including letting you shoot their firearms.
However, ATT's in Alberta should be covered on the course. And Alberta's CPFO isn't as stupid as Ontario's.
"...Do they give ATT on Sat?..." Civil servants don't work on weekends.
