AR-10 Barrel Length

What is the shortest AR-10 barrel available in Canada? Is it really the 24incher from questar?

How short should a person go with an AR-10 Barrel?

I don't know if Socom is good to deal with but they do offer a good product. Anyone who has dealt with Socom care to discuss.

I don't know how effective or efficient a really short tube would be on a 7.62x51, I'd think theres a point where you'd end up blowing unburnt propellant out of the muzzle. I seem to remember some comments about one of the guys (Big Red?) in Iraq running a short barrel FN, but the FN is a piston gun with an adjustable gas system. The AR using DI would (I'm guessing) have more of an issue with unburnt powder residue in the gas system.

If you're doing anything other than punching paper, don't go below 16" on a 7.62x51 gun. Below that you have the terminal ballistics of 7.62short...in a much heavier package.

I like 16" in the AR-15. I'd be happy with that length in an AR-10... now where to find one..

Check Socom they have 16" uppers though might not be in stock.
