Hey all !

Trying to figure out how to remove the front handgaurd from my AR-10. It looks similar to this...

Is it threaded on? Just pull the gas tube first?

Thanks for looking!

remove the front gas block (if larger than the float tube), use a strap wrench (rubber type) and unscrew the ring. the tube comes off, then use a pin wrench on the barrel nut.

first you have to remove the front site(gas block) from the barrel, this is accomplish by remove the two hex screw under the front site, get a strap wrench from canadian tire, using the strap wrench to remove the Lock ring on the outside of the barrel lock nut, this is what keep the hand guard connected to the receiver via the barrel lock ring..., then using one of the barrel wrench for the Ar10 to remove the barrel from the action.

Don't know if it's the same setup at for my RRA Predator Pursuit upper, but I had to use a propane torch to heat the sucker because the barrel nut/handguard threads were gooped with locktite. The strap wrench was of no use. Just heat and 2 pairs of working gloves...

The standard AR10T has a fiberglass hand guard, not aluminum like the DPMS or the RRA rifles. I wouldn't use a torch on it.
