AR-10 Questions

Uppers and lowers

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Nooooo.

Serious answer: The dimensions of AR10 and similar .308/7.62 uppers and lowers are larger than AR15s.

You can however use 7.62x39, 6.5, 6.8, 300AAC, and a few other uppers on standard AR15 lowers.

Also an AR10 (Armalite) lower isn't the same as an AR .308 lower (DPMS) and they aren't compatable either

Good point.

I am having a hard time deciding whether to get a .308/7.62 rifle at the moment partly because of this.

Bushmaster doesn't exist at the moment and Armalites can't be had.

LMT, Knights, DPMS/Remington have one thing in common in that they will all take the 7.62 Pmags.

LMT and Knights are a bit out of my price range at present, so I am looking at the Remington with some modifications, but that has issues with barrel dia, threading, and apparently being fussy about what it eats. The only upside is that I can get it locally, and cheaper than any of the DPMS that I have seen.

Regards.

I do have to say that I love my Armalite AR10. I would take it over my AR15 any day, except that it is WAY more expensive to shoot. Add 2 M14's and another AR10 upper, and it just about breaks the bank.
