Well,
I just got a Remington R25 aka DPMS AR 10. I really like it,
BUT,
it came with the most horrible trigger PULL I've ever felt on an AR ...
and that is saying a LOT!!!
Four distinct peaks/catches in the pull, and LOTS of creep.
But once you get there, the let off is surprisingly light and crisp.
It is the "getting there" that is annoying.
The R25 already comes with a bent = lighter hammer spring [ which supposedly prevents the firing of 7.62 NATO BALL spec ammo with the harder military grade primers ]. So first thing I did was the usual AR 15 minute trigger job WITHOUT bending or cutting the springs. Some improvement was felt, but no where near enough to allow extracting the accuracy potential of this otherwise pretty decent rifle.
So then,
I thought I would just drop in my RRA AR 15 match trigger, and happiness would be achieved.
NO BIG DEAL RIGHT?
WRONG!!!!
First of all,
the THICK [ and fragile ] Camo finish paint job is coating the inside of the pin holes in the R25 receiver, and the RRA pins are [of course ] MAX OD, and won't fit without clearancing the holes.
Second,
with the RRA hammer/trigger installed in the R25, the bolt carrier drags and scrapes on the hammer when cocking. Obviously there is some clearance issue, or the squared off RRA hammer is not interfacing correctly with the bottom of the R25 bolt cocking surfaces.
Rather than modifying my RRA match trigger, I really would prefer to install a drop in aftermarket hammer/trigger. Any experienced advice here, on which after market trigger/hammer works well with a DPMS/R25 AR 10, would be greatly appreciated. Preferably, parts that are available here in Canuckistan.
thanks
