Anyone in Canada sell the parts to build an AR-15 in .450 bushmaster? Came up empty on a quick google search.
Look into the current magazine capacity crap that is going on with the 50 Beowulf which also applies to the 450 Bushmaster as well as the 458 Socom cartridges. They're all great cartridges if you feel the need to pay a lot of money to make bigger holes in paper (in the case of the AR platform) but with a 2 round magazine limit you may want to rethink your plans. It would make more sense to me if you were putting together a non restricted but even then a 2 round magazine limit is a lot less fun.
I know it's just a bulletin the RCMP have put out and that it isn't actually law yet but you can be sure that means they are working hard to make it written law and you also may not want to be one of the guys who gets caught with an AR magazine that can hold more than five rounds of 223.
yes it does450 Bushmaster has truly proprietary single stack mags does it not?
So you're saying if I build my Macabee in .450 for moose hunting, some how I have to pin the mag to 2 rounds of .450?!?!
Here is the Remington 30 AR magazine, equally as impossible for it to hold even one round of 223/556 but an entirely different design again.
It is unfortunate that the designers of the 50 beowulf and 458 Socom chose to use a regular 223/556 magazine to feed their rounds, in the USA it is not an issue, but with our cartridge control regulations in canada, it is.
Lol I disagree. Guys running Beowulf mags in their .223 ARs got WAY more enjoyment out of them than the three people that actually bought or built .50 Beowulf uppers.![]()
I guess, If you are talking about guys who risk a prohibited device charge for an over capacity 223/556 magazine
Does not apply to 450 bushmaster, the mags are their own design that can not even hold one round of 223/556
If you can find 450BM magazines and your plan wasn't to just use the common and easy to find Beowulf magazine then you might be ok.
The bulletin says any magazine that it derived from a standard 223 STANAG magazine. I really have no idea how far they would take it but since they all look the same until you actually look at the follower and feed lips I can see
I'm not really sure what would happen if you were stopped with one, if the officer felt like it he could charge you with possession of a prohibited device and then let the courts sort it out.
So checked out Gravel.....anyone know who is a dealer for them? Can't seem to buy direct.
