AR-15 A1/Colt SP-1

I've always liked the old style A1's. I'm wondering if theres anyone who sells these still, because I simply want a rifle like this:

They come up in the Exchange of Modern Military and Black Rifles (EE) forum. Scroll down on the main index you'll see the section. Put up a Want To Buy (WTB) ad for one or wait for one to show up. It shouldn't take too long. You may need to request permission to see that section of the forums. Just follow the red directions.

SP 1's will not be found as a stock item in any Canadian or U.S. gunstore because they have not made them since the 1980's. A used market item only these days. They come up once in a while on the EE or sometimes the retail sponsors will get one on consignment or used. I wonder when some company will try to tap into the "retro" AR market and do a new production run? Norinco makes an SP 1 clone but you have to like blue-grey metal paint finishes that scratch and flake easily and ribbed handguards with a molded butt stock that is a bit different from the original SP1's.

Just saw one "never fired" for $1,700 in the EE yesterday.

All I ask is that it operates well. I'm not too picky about the finish, this would be a rifle i'd plan to use alot so even if it is a bit worn-looking i'd be fine with that.
