AR-15 advise, I want to buy what do you guys like don't like?

I'm slowly looking for a AR-15 to buy, but being such a big platform to choose from what would you guys recommend?

What do you like?

WHat do you don't like, and why?

I already know I do not want a Norinco, the SIG-M400 has been recommended to me by a couple different shops in my area.

$1000-1500 price range

Start with plinking and maybe work towards competing if I do all right in that bragging lol

A Smith M&P 15 (basic model) might get my vote for under a grand, leaving you some cash for all those basic accessories that you will need.

If you step it up to $1,500 w/o tax and accessories then a Daniel Defense would be in my sights.

I'd second the LMT choice. Very well built.

1-Colt LE 6920 because it holds it's value and is a good gun overall
2-Daniel Defense because they make a hell of a good rifle, period
3-Smith and Wesson M&P 1510s another well made gun
4-LWRC good gun but it is gas piston and I just don't care much for that in an AR.

The first three are direct impingement and are the old tried and true system. All are in your price range and are very good guns. Have fun man.
