Can you post a pic? I've never installed a Diamondhead forend but I've never seen a lock nut on an AR barrel before.

It's actually a ring nut that sits at the front of the barrel nut to tighten it against the handguard... they both come off lefty loosy but they are both very tight, maybe some heat?...I just got my armorers tools and will set everything up on the weekend but any advice I can get will help
The following video shows the same setup, however he doesn't show how he loosen'd the lock nut....unless it doesn't have to be backed off first. Brand new to this guys...

It acts like a jam nut for aligning the forend, I have a YH that has that set up.
You might be able to turn the entire hand guard off without touching the nut. If not, a brass punch on the jam nut spine with light tapping should work.
Looking from the muzzle the hand guard will turn off ccw, the jam nut will loosen cw.

Ok, looks like maybe I don't have to loosen that ring...just have to apply heat and try to turn the handguard...Let you know how it goes...What a newb I am. I am enjoying this. I see an AR build from scratch in my future...

Yep sounds like a good idea...I didn't think of the punch...
Thanks for that...I'll let you all know how it turned out...

Yep you were exactly right, light tapping on the jam nut and a little heat and ccw force on the handguard did it...
Thank you very much...On to the next stage, removal of gas tube and barrel nut and installation of the BCM handguard...Yay..

piece of cake, with proper vice and vice block, any hand guards are a easy install.
