how about those reproduction m-9 bayonets from marstar???... any good???.

or is it worth while and US export gov't permiting to order a real m-9 bayonet from the states, or us cavalry magazine or somthing...

Bayonets are a waste of weight but if you must have one I'd say the current Canadian issued one is the best.

What he said. Carrying more ammo is more justified.

If the paper/cardboard is getting too close and your rifle has jammed - transition to pistol until the paper is incapacitated or has retreated or you fix your stoppage and continue the fight with your primary.

"Fix bayonets!" only sounds cool in Zulu.

While it looks cool, it isn't exactly robust. Doesn't have a full tang, we had a bunch snap when we first got them after going through a bayonet range in Quantico. Surprised the hell out me, thought someone like Eickhorn would know better.

Besides, like Wes said, your bayonet won't fit properly, it's going to rattle around all over the place because on a 16" the front ring will be around the barrel, instead of the thicker flash suppressor. This is part of the reason why the new C8 heavy barrel has that odd/thick contour forward of the FSB, the other reason is to mount the Diemaco M203.

ETA: With the current US restrictions I'm not sure if importation is even an option. I'd say pick up whatever you can find.

Here's a quick pic of a small selection of what's out there.

The situation with all bayonets is they are configured for a certain standard length from the bayonet stud on the rifle, to usually the flash hider, where the bayonet ring is secured. With the AR series of rifles, if you are using a non standard length barrel, ie. 10", 16", then the bayonet will not fit properly. With the 16" length, the barrel is not the same diameter as the flash hider. It's the flash hider that the bayonet ring is mated to, so there will be some play/movement. It'll go on a 16", just not fit as it's supposed.
Sorry, I don't have a 16" to demonstrate.

Gerber multi tool and gun tape. Easy on site fix......when those paper targets come at you! Nice post from your collection Koldt.

Bayonet Adapter

Check AR 15.com under accessories someone on that site does sell an extension that attaches to the end of a standard M7 bayonet, it lengthens the handle and allows fitting to a 16 in. barrel. The other option is to purchase a removable bayonet adapter ring which is a lug on a band that bolts on around the barrel, these were made for the Mini-14 to adapt a G.I. bayonet but can be used on Ar's, Bushmaster use to have them in their catalog. You will be unable to properly attach a bayonet on a 16 in. barrel.

Here`s the Extrema ratio for comparison. Ya we all know Bayos are pretty useless but they sure look cool :)

From Ontario Knives. Decent value. Still won't fit your 16" however.

You could get a lug adaptor to resolve that:http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ARR044-3325-1285.html

I don't agree, waaaay better than the Nella C7 bayo yes, but not as good as the OKC USMC bayo. I broke the wire cutter stud off the end of my scabbard when trying to use it for that purpose and seen blades snap. Nylon scabbard holder is cheap too.
Good luck finding the new Canadian bayo. They are tightly controlled. I know a few guys who would pay alot of money to have one in their knife collections.
