Hey guys,

I am sick of using shooting bags and the wood risers when shooting off a bench. I want a bi-pod for my LMT. I am looking for something not grossly huge and heavy, just something with adjustable arms that is quality.

Any ideas on brands, where to get one, reasonable prices, +'ve and -'ve experiences?

Thanks guys.

T.

harris - you'll probably need an adaptor, but the harris is the best there is out there , imo- but it can be EXPENSIVE- and figure out what height you need- the long legged ones are great for shooting from the sitting position, and the shorter ones are either prone or bench rest- i've had one for years and it's never been off my a2

Attaching a bipod to the bayonet lug which is directly attached to the barrel is close to the worst thing you can do if accuracy is the goal. Then again, unless you've built a precision shooting AR, trying to achieve extreme accuracy from a rifle designed for COMBAT or minute of man shooting is just as moot.

I had a bayonet attached bipod on my cz 858, it threw off the shot by feet when i wasn't shooting with it.

We did some testing during a DMR course we ran out here and attaching a bipod to or under the gas block of a C7 A2 caused a shift of POI of roughly 12 inches or more at 100m.The further back towards the action that you put it the better, however it is still going to change your POI.Better to just shoot off the magazine and save yourself the grief.

So on a non-free float barrel.

If you have a bipod attached to a free float rail, you shouldn't have any change in POI.

Have you noticed any POI changes if the pod is mounted under a free floated rail like a DD Lite? I have had some issues with my setup shooting low on occasion.
