My technical-ended thread on this: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?856244-Ar-15-Bullpup-Lower-Technical-Thread

I’ve come up with an basic concept for an unrestricted AR-15 uppered bullpup rifle. But before I post it I have a couple of question about it.
1) If it use AR-15 uppers is it automaticly restricted? (I don't know how to find this info on the RCMP website)
2) Are there very many people here who fear posting this idea will get it classified as a restricted/prohibited weapon?
3) If the concept could be made into a workable idea, who would buy one? (show of hands)

Thanks for any info in advance.

EDIT: This idea is for a FIREARM (serialized part), not a devise.

Ar upper has sweet :bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug: all to do with anything its the lower and what makes you think the rcmp wont just slap a variant on it. There are post every other week of people that want to design their "new unrestricted ar lower" by time you do it and rcmp rejects it you could probally buy a truck load of swiss arms and still have some cash left over for a lap dance at the peelers

But if it was possible yes I would buy one.

If it's an existing firearm then an aftermarket bullpup stock for it (which is what you'd be creating in effect) would be prohibited. The RCMP has taken the stance so far that if it accepts an AR upper, then it's an AR lower, so the receiver would likely end up classified restricted.

You would need to do something more like the Tavor, where it was its own design and the stock was integral to its operation.

All that being said, you would still have to deal with the RCMP, and who knows what they will rule on whatever you come up with. See the Walther G22 situation.

If you made a lower receiver that was bullpup, it would not be prohibited.

This is where you will run into issues as that is the RCMP's current stance.

Ask Alberta Tactical Rifle Supply what happened to their first .50 upper. The RCMP lab used duct tape to hold the upper onto an AR15 lower, managed to fire one shot and presumably the thing exploded, and they labeled it a variant and thus restricted. So it's not as easy as just opening up the tolerances to make it hazardous or suicidal to shoot, you'd need to tighten it so that it would have to be machined or modified to accept an AR lower or even be mated to one in any capacity that would allow it to discharge.

If they are willing to classify such an upper as a variant, if your lower accepts an AR15 upper it's pretty much guaranteed to be classified as a variant.

Nevertheless I enjoy seeing new guns, bring it on.

Unfortunately I don't currently have a the capability to make one of these lowers yet. Might try to work with Dlask, M14.ca, or even NEA (last resort).

Actually, I got inspired for the bullpup lower by ATRS's Safety Harbour Lower.

my advice to you is be very very careful who you work with and watch what you post here, you best bet is to delete this post.
Remember the rcmp lab boys job it to do eveything it can to make your design a prohib device, whatever it takes....
