AR-15 castle nut wrench

I am going to need an AR-15 castle nut wrench to put together an AR I've been collecting parts for, and I've noticed that there are two different versions out there.

Ones like this:

Should they both work on any castle nut?
 
If you want to remove an A2 buffer tube, go with the bottom one, I tried with a combo tool and the socket was too lose on the tool and dented the castle nut. I had to use a vise on the nut after to be able to remove it. Easier with the real tool.
 
I have the bottom one, and it was something like 10 bucks from brownells? works great though, very solid fit and worth the shipping time.

If you are putting a standard AR15 barrel nut on, you will need the front barrel nut armorers wrench too, the combo wrenches work pretty good. 20 bucks for this guy from brownells:

Otherwise the 2nd guy in your photo works great!
 
It depends what kind of lock ring you have. The first wrench is for the older style lock ring shown on the left in the picture below, it will work on the newer style on the right but the second wrench you show is more suited to that kind.
