Bore guide inside the upper reciever. Kleen Bore (red painted) rod with jag, lots and lots of patches soaked with :
* Shooters Choice (copper, fouling, chemical removal)
* JB bore paste (physical removal of copper or other fouling)
* KROIL- followed by many patches of Remingon Bore Cleaner (physical scrubbing)
ONE or all of the above depending on how lazy I am (gotta clean my wife's rifles and pistol, too).
Then followed by several clean, dry patches until colour is a super light grey. Too lazy to keep scrubbing until totally white.
That was for the barrel. The bolt and carrier assembly needs lots of CLP, Hoppe's # 9 oil, brushing and wiping. Sometimes, I give the bolt carrier assembly a squirt or 2 of Gun Scrubber Aerosol or Brake Cleaner as most people commonly call it. More wiping with oily or CLP'ed rag.
Re-lube with Militec or CLP or Hoppe's # 9 Gun oil.
Remember you black gun lovers who are too young to remember the FN C1A1.... this is all easy compared to cleaning a C1A1 and it's relevant piston, piston shoulders, gas plug detent, et all that !! The FN's were not fun to clean!
Cheers,
Barney
