Ar-15 Gas block roll pin question

Hello all, So I was at the range today and mid magazine my Hera Arms low profile gas block decides to spit out the roll pin and sent a flash of burnt powder out the block and tube area,Yeah that scared the crap out of me!

So I will have to grab a new roll pin, from my understanding it is a 5/64 x 9/16 inch roll pin, can I just use a standard stainless pin from somewhere like a bolt supply place or are they spec-ed to a different level.

The pins I use are 420 stainless from Mcmaster Carr. 316 pins should be fine too.

One vendor on this site uses/sends abnormally short plain steel pins with their gas tubes.....
 
Hello everyone, Thanks. I did manage to find some at Hobby wholesale, hardened steel roll pins for r/c car axles. pack of 5 was 2.50
