Ar-15 headspace question for new upper build

Hi,

Waiting for my new Colt IUR upper receiver to arrive this week. Purchased a BCM BCG to go with it.
Do I need to take this upper and BCG to a gunsmith to have the headspace checked before firing?
The Colt Canada and BCM products are both Mil-Spec, but want some advise.

Colt IUR owners. Did you check headspace?

Curious if Colt Canada IUR upper buyers checked head space when assembling their AR?
New IUR is due to arrive this week and have a new BCM BCG to go with it.
Both are Mil-Sec but now I'm questioning whether I should have it check before firing?
 
I have the gauges, so I would check.
But I would be very surprised if headspace was not correct.
I would not worry about it.
By the same token, when I assembled an upper using a NEA barrel unit, I had to try three bolts before I found one that would close on a GO gauge.

Like everyone said with top name brands like that with mil-spec stuff its not necessary

Never checked it and I was fine Troy BCG and Noveske barrel, and I also put a AAC nickel boron BCG in my DD MK18 didnt check that either and it runs great

I will still buy the gauge eventually as I plan to build a lot more
 
True enough. One was aimed at Colt Canada IUR owners and the other at AR owners in general. Also Wanted specific input from IUR owners on whether they checked when putting their rifles together.
In hind sight I should probably have saved the forum space and combined the questions :)

I don't think you need to worry about Colt Canada ( or in general most of the major brands of upper ) when it comes to headspacing with any major brands of bolt ( colt, DD, bushmaster, DPMS, BCM, LMT, CMT...etc)
