Ar-15 lower receiver Legal status question

To start I hope I am in the right forum, I just want to know if on a AR-15 the lower receiver is also restricted or is it just the upper ?

You have it backwards. It’s the lower that is restricted. The upper is not.

The lower is the part considered the firearm. It is restricted.

Thanks for the info. I really taught it was the opposit. I was mislead by an add where a guy had one lower and two upper for sale and said he had a registration for each of the upper.

Yeah he probably had two uppers with different barrel lengths and changed the registration when he switched uppers to reflect the new barrel length and therefore had two registration certificates. One for each barrel length

And in that specific case, the uppers are considered the firearms. The lower is the unregistered part.

Canadian laws are puzzling sometimes. Lol !!! To me all semi auto shall be non restricted its kinda crazy to classify it by its look. same thing for semi auto AK variants that are prohibited. If these guns were manufactured full auto from the factory I would understand but it is far from being the case.

If you try to apply any type of logic to the Firearms Act, you'll end up confused and probably in jail. It's one of those things you just have to memorize, because it does not, and never will, make any sense.
