AR-15 Optic Advice

I'm running a Vortex Sparc II on my client shooter; Aero Precision lower and Motiuk upper with NEA 10.5" barrel and BCG. I've even taken this SPARC II out hunting for deer season last fall. :)

On my Colt Canada personal shooter, I'm running an ACOG TA31F (but that's MY shooter so I don't mind the $1K optics).

My clients all love the SPARC II... it's working so well for a variety of new shooters!

What's not to like with the inexpensive and value filled Vortex fun?

Cheers

I actually did end up purchasing the Sparc II the other day.. I was kind of between the Strike Eagle and Sparc II but nobody had the Strike Eagle in stock. Wont test her out till next week though :(

In an unmagnified red dot, I've had good luck with the trs-25 and Fastfire, but you'd need a riser with either for an AR. I've used them mostly on Vz's

In a 1-4, I own a Millett DMS-1, a Hi-Lux CMR, and Burris TAC30, all of which are decent optics, in the $500ish range, but I'd say my favorite is probably the TAC30.

In a simple magnified scope, I have a Burris AR332 and a Vortex Spitfire. Both good, solid optics. I believe both are 3x, which sounds ideal for what you're looking for, and again, both can be had for $500ish

Finally, a used Elcan OS3 ($600ish) or OS4 ($900ish) would be better than any of the above. But a bit pricier.

If the Sparc II doesn't work out for you, I'd look for an OS3 on the EE, if I were you :)

To add to my earlier posts about suggesting the Hi-Lux CMR.
I used my 16.5 inch AR with the CMR mounted on it for the afternoon of the second day at a CQB course I did mid September (used a different rifle with an Aimpoint PRO for most of the course) and the scope lost it's seal and now has moisture inside it on the lenses. I finished the day with it without problem even though it was a little hazy from the moisture. I just sent Wolverine an email today describing the issue but I don't expect a reply for a couple days due to the holiday.

I still think it's a good optic for the money but this isn't the first time I've heard of this happening and their warranty service will determine if I continue to recommend them and if I would ever buy another.

I find my ARs all shoot so damn good I over optic them...Hard for me to have a red dot or even a 1-4 on a rifle that can clover leaf at 200 yards with higher magnification mounted...Kinda be like having a Hemi and only having first and second gears.
