I bought a complete 10.5 inch upper from dlask and put it on a new eagle arms lower with six position stock.
It seems that most of the fired rounds jam or dont eject properly. I thought it might be the grain of the bullet so i switch from 55gr to 62gr.
This didnt help either. On some rounds the case would fully eject on others it would get crushed by the bolt like a "stove pipe".
I began to realize that the bolt is not cycling all the way back. I made sure the components were well lubed and and confirmed the return gas tube was clear and tried again with no luck.
The last thing that came to mind was the buffer spring. i thought the length could have been too long for the collapsable stock but this also turned out to be fine.
Does any one have any ideas of what else it could be? Please help!

Sounds like a gas issue. You might have to remove the FSB and open up the gas port a little bit. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then take it to your local gunsmith.

Your solution is to shove the darn thing back to when it comes from, and get a replacement or refund.

This is unacceptable. No factory new upper should do this.

Opening the gas port is the last thing you want to do.

The first thing you should do is return it to its maker for a refund.

Been down this road to the tune of thousands when Dlask was the only game in town...from the mid 80s on...send it back, go with something else.

GT,
I agree, the wrench turner is just as important as the materials chosen. AR's under 14.5" tend to be a bit*h which makes finding a functional one that much more difficult.

Thanks for the tips guys, i will call dlask tomorrow and try to resolve it with them.
From what I'm understanding it should not be a surprise for them when I call.

Have you checked the bolt carrier key to make sure it's not loose? I had similar problems early on with my Dlask AR, but after he locked the key tight the rifle has functioned flawlessly. It was a quick and simple fix to what seemed like a big problem. I am one of many who are very happy with their DAR-701s.

I checked the bolt carrier, the screws are as as tight as they get. The gas rings look good too.
Dlask has requested I ship it back to them so they can test it out and fix the problem.

The location of the gas rings is a myth. The AR platform has been tested to function with only one ring.

The reason I posted the point was that I had this exact issue with my LMT 10.5" upper. The first time I had ever seen it. Once I re-staggered the rings the bolt worked, and still does work just fine.

I use McFarland one piece gas rings. I know this will cause a fuss on here but in short they are a better design than the original 3 ring design that came out of the late 50`s. Yes i know alot of people don`t use them but I chose to, just as some people use studded tires in winter while others don`t. Just my 2cents:)

Big +1

They actually cause more wear in the carrier so the others (OEM) don't fit.

You might also try using 5.56mm NATO rather than .223. There was a great article in "The American Rifleman" about malfunctioning carbines and ammo does seem to play a part in this problem. As I have said before, 5.56mm NATO and .223 are interchangable but they are not the same!
