I bought one of those SFRC blemished lowers when they were on sale for a helluva deal, and my parts kit came in yesterday. Its not quite my first rodeo, so i got to it. Everything went fine, everything functions...

Almost everything: my safety selector doesn't "Click" into place, it swivels between positions smoothly if maybe a bit stiff, but doesn't click. I disassembled it and checked for possible burrs or any issues with my install. Everything looked fine, I removed the detent and re-installed the safety lever, then got a flashlight to look down the hole. The selector is in as far as she goes, with 1 to 1.5ish mm poking out the other end, but the grove for the detent to slide in still isn't lined up quite properly, its super close but not 100%.

The LPK is a DPMS "like" kit, that is apparently decent quality. So I was just wondering if anyone has seen selectors out of spec or had similar issues with these/any other lowers?

Its not a DPMS kit, its a "DPMS Like Kit" for super cost effective, but they seem to be popular, everything else went in perfectly.

I'm hearing from other sources its the lower, I'd rather it be a $5 switch than a receiver, it kills my budget build.

What is a DPMS like kit??

lol, you beat me to it.

Well, the somewhat easier approach would be to buy a new $10 safety lever or take one off another rifle if the OP happens to have a second AR and see. If that fails too, time to call in for warranty on that lower.

This, makes it a lot easier to troubleshoot if you have a second rifle or know someone who does that you can try parts off of, I've had issues with what was supposedly a mil-spec quality LPK where the detent pin was just off spec by a tiny bit and wouldn't allow the safety to rotate, ended up getting a complete new detent, detent spring and safety from the vendor that fixed the problem. I was fortunate enough to have another rifle that I could pilfer parts from and to see if it was an issue with the saftey vs the lower and ended up warrantying the parts from the LPK.

I had an identical issue and found that in my case the spring was not properly centred on the detent, my mistake. Once assembled the safety was far to stiff for my liking so I drilled the MFT grip hole slightly deeper which made the safety silky smooth.

I've installed the safety into another rifle and it functions, then the rifles safety into my lower. It does not function.

The lower receiver is out of spec. I've contacted the seller who is issuing me a credit. Now I'm stuck with a receiver I can't use with a lower parts kit and buffer assembly.

Any ideas? Do I try and make it work? I don't want to buy another, as I'm looking for a over time budget build. I'm thinking I may just give it up. Sell the parts and cut my losses.

Did you buy the "DPMS" like parts kit from a unnamed new site sponser who has great flat rate shipping costs?

Its just a plinking rifle and not for self protection or combat so try to make it work safely.

Yep. And they were awesome. Kit is good and fits into another rifle just fine. It's the lower that out of spec. The detent tube is too far out. Photos comparing lowers shows it easily.

Can you Dremel or file a groove and notch in another part of the selector to make it work?
