I've used search 0 results for SP1. AR-15 gives to many results.

I just got my first AR-15. It's an SP-1.

Can it be customized the same as any other AR?

Are there any threads or sites you can point me to?

Thanks

Yes of course you can . Parts are interchangeable . But one thing to think about . If your SP1 is all original & hasn't been modified in any way It may be worth it to keep it that way . The SP1 has not been made for some time & finding a original one is getting harder to find . There are many options if you want to have a custom AR

This one is completely original. I'm the second owner. It's in VG shape.

Hmmm. now the question is do I buy a newer one to customize or customize this one....

i would keep the sp1 as is, and later buy one as close to what you want as to final features or custom.

my first ar was the sp1 carbine years ago, not a lot of extra features but worked perfectly fine, plus it was only about 5.7 lbs, light and quick, as compare to the 7 lbs to 8.5 lbs, on average or more, for a current decked out model.

have the latest versions, but i still miss that sp1 carbine.

SP-1 is an old time classic of the Vietnam era. A Colt 3X scope, M7 bayonet & GI bipod are all the add on you would need. Customizing it further will make it look like a bubba. Let it be.

Why buy a Norc?
For a couple hundred bucks more get a real one.

I've only seen pics of these, didn't like the way the "Safety" lever comes down past the reciever & down the pistol grip.
Also the finish looks cheap.
Another thing is that they probably have metric threads.

I'd keep your SP1 stock, or sell it to finance a M4.

Heres a pic of my old SP1 with period correct mods.

Guess I'll leave it alone and grab one of those new norinco's when they hit Marstar and customize that to hell.

That would be a good idea . You don't have to wait for Marstar . Arms East / Frontier / Lever . are selling the Norq M4 right now . They are mil spec with standard NOT metric threads & come with all the goodies .
Keep that SP1 original & shoot em both
