Yes, I'm that guy.

I was assembling my LPK into my stripped lower and I lost the brass detent for the front pivot pin. I had everything inside a clear recycling bag and it shot right through the plastic and is lost somewhere in my basement.

Anyone know where I can get just the detent?

I just finished going through this myself with an AR15 and AR10 lower. The Brownells basic tools were great and no springs flying out with the AR15 lower. The AR10 lower however had the spring under more power and seemed slightly further to the outside of the receiver making the tool less effective. Got it in my third try.

Large rooms with minimal stuff, preferably light floor and close all the vents beforehand!!!

I didn't use the Brownell's tool. I used a trailer coupler pin (from my Fleetwood folding trailer). It's the same diameter as the take down pin.--It's the same concept I think, or from what I've seen online--the Brownell's looks like it has a channel that the detent rides in, mine didn't obviously.

I put the trailer pin through the receiver and lined up the holes. Dropped in the spring and detent then pushed it down with a 3/32" punch. Once the punch cleared the bottom of the trailer pin, I rotated the trailer pin, so that the holes weren't matched up and the spring/dentent was "captured". Then I butted up the pivot pin to the trailer pin and "tried" displacing the trailer pin with the pivot pin by pushing it through. It must of slipped, because the first time, my detent went flying. On the second attempt it worked great.

I'm blaming the Mrs. for buying the generic clear recycling bags; if we gotten the Glad branded one's it wouldn't of shot through..... ;) (well that's my story and I'm sticking to it).

Great advice about the minimal stuff. I got lucky, real lucky.
