Hmm this has been very enlightening.
So if I go grab a S&W M&P 15 Sport 2 I can slap on a whole upper for 22lr or CMMG conversion or if I want a funky short barrel i just slap that on? Wow ARs are awesome. (Sorry for my ignorance this is all new to me)

That is certainly an option, and not a bad way to go, however, at the cost of a conversion kit or upper, I decided to go with the M&P 15-22 simply for the fact that for an extra $100 I have two rifles not one,,,,more is always better lol.
When you get out to shoot with us, you will get a chance to try out the 15-22, and also the GSG, which is also a nice gun and not restricted! No matter which way you decide to go, a conversion or a dedicated .22, you will have a cheap trainer, I prefer the M&P over guns like the GSG simply because it directly mimics a real AR controls and functions
Also, the fact that the 15-22 is limited to 10 rounds never bothered me because in a tac rifle match most .223/5.56 mags will be limited to 10 anyway, unless you run Beowulf , so again, just like a normal AR
