i just finished putting together an AR lower and i have an issue with the trigger.
it dubble clicks? you pull it back and it clicks then you have to still pull a little more then it fires. and when you put the safety on it pulls back and does the first click but wont go all the way to fire.

any one can help? any ideas?
 
Am I correct in assuming it is a standard AR trigger and not a 2-stage?

So, you are not touching the trigger, and the hammer is cocked. You start pulling the trigger and there is a 'click' and then you pull a little further and then it fires. Correct? Can you 'feel' a definite 'stop' when it clicks (like on a two stage)?

Then you are saying the second 'scenario' is you are not touching the trigger, the hammer is cocked, and when you rotate the selector to 'safe' and then pull the trigger, it does the first click but will not go far enough back to fire?

Is it a loud 'click' or just a movement and you can hear the trigger bottoming out on the safety?

thats exactly what i am saying.

its a norinco hammer trigger. when you feel the first click its like the trigger should go off but it doesent.

i took them out and here is some pics. i think might be the problem?
there is mega wear and a notch on the front of the trigger? should this be smooth?

I'm not an expert, but maybe there could be a problem with the disconnector? Maybe post a pick of that too for some of the more experienced guys
 
Where is your disconnector?

And, do you have the small srping for the disconnector installed?
 
OP - ya, that step shouldn't be there. Is there any step on the notch (on the hammer) where it mates with the trigger as well?

When you say you assembled it........I was unaware that you could buy Norinco lower parts kits separately from the lower. Or did you buy them used from someone that took them out of their gun?

i had the disconnector and every thing installed. the only wear i see is on the front of the trigger. that notch and wear off to the left side. it like the hammer isent sitting on the middle of the trigger.

the norinco parts were off a norinco lower i stripped. but i never used the lower so i dont know if it had that problem way back.

brownells have trigger/hammer sets for like under $50. do you think a replacment might be the answer?

It shouldn’t be there but I doubt that is the cause of his problem… Looks like the step is a wear mark from the hammer, which wouldn’t explain the double pull…

I was kind of thinking that, that's why I was asking about the hammer notch.
Could be that the geometry is off on the hammer and the mark on the trigger is from hitting it?

I would say find someone who will let you try their hammer/trigger/disconnector in your gun and see if it does the same thing. You will likely find they don't so ultimately you may need to pick up a new hammer/trigger (and may as well get a new disconnector just in case)
 
i just bought a new trigger set for $45. if i still get the same problem i will take it to the gunsmith.

i found another wear mark on the hammer. its worn off to the side? if i was getting wear should it not all be centered?

 
It appears that on the Norinco parts, they don't grind (or even machine for that matter) the engagement surfaces. Most major manufacturers grind those surfaces, some have a nicer finish than others. For example, I have a stag set that is smooth as glass and I have a RRA that's kind of rough.

The second wear point is where the disconnector engages. Since everything is pretty rough (finish never was a strong suit for Norinco), your engagement surfaces are not engaging square to each other, and that's why the wear is uneven.

The surface on the hammer that engages (using that word a lot) the trigger does not look like the typical geometry that you see on 'standard' hammers, so I'm guessing that's what's causing the 'click' and wear mark on the trigger.

I would bet once you swap out those trigger parts, your issue will be gone.

Did you order a new trigger, hammer, AND disconnector? I would replace all three just to be sure. You might even want to replace the springs with better ones down the road, but try it with those ones and see if you have any problems first.

It would appear that the contact surfaces are not perfectly square.

When installed in the lower does everything not look centered and lined up correctly?

When you say it clicks, do you mean a hard loud click or a soft gentle click?

when i have it together it looks ok.
the click i am almost sure is from the slot that is on front of the trigger. if i run the hammer over that spot i get the same feeling as when its installed and pulled.

it feels like its grabbing before releaseing the hammer.

once i get the new trigger set i will know more.

what about that huge gouge in the sear face....that trigger is made out of s**t steel get rid of it. I guarantee thats the "click" you feel. for a very smooth trigger you can polish the engagement surfaces with a dremel felt wheel and polishing compound. for a lighter trigger you can tweak the springs a bit just be carefull if you take away too much weight in the hammer spring it can cause light strikes especially with surplus ammos.. google it.
 
Bad news. brownells cancel my order they dont ship them to canada. now i am looking for another set here. anyone know? i'm looking for the whole trigger group.
