I have an Armalite AR-15. Do you guys know:
1- Are these chrome lined ?
2- Are there instructions on the net on how to remove the trigger assembly ?
3- How can I get the trigger to be smoother ?
Thanks

1. Look on the barrel, forward of the front sight, if it has the letters "C-MP", then it's chrome lined Moly steel.

2. Yes, here's the steps:
a. Remove the hammer axis pin (hammer must not be under tension when doing this) and remove the hammer
b. Remove trigger axis pin and remove the trigger/disconnector
c. If you wish to remove the safety, you will need to remove your pistol grip as well.

Re-assembly:
a. Insert the trigger and disconnector, look through the hole on the side for the pin and line the holes up. insert the pin from either side, and jiggle it through. (Alternatively, get a small pin punch and use it to align things first, then slide the pin in)

b. Insert the Hammer, MAKE SURE THE LEGS OF THE HAMMER SPRING ARE ON TOP OF THE TRIGGER AXIS PIN. Insert the hammer pin.

c. Function test.

3. Visit http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/coffee/trigger.htm

Hope this helps,

Only a Colt barrel will be marked "C MP" - Colt Metal Particle Tested. (magnafluxed)

I have a Colt 11.5" barrel marked "C MP C" for Colt Metal Particle Tested Chrome Chamber.

"C MP CB" is for Chrome Bore. The newer Colts may actually say Chrome Bore not CB.

Not all Colts are chromed lined.

Bushmaster uses the "B MP" marking.

Armalite often has no markings on the barrel, but all of the barrels I had from them were chrome lined. You can see it at the muzzle if you clean off the carbon.

Depends which version of Armalite you have -- some are SS and some are Chrome lined.

Due to the way the AR trigger works - altering it to be smoother is a iffy proposal -- your best served by buying a new "match" trigger if you want a lighter and cleaner pull. If the stock trigger has noticeable burrs on it you can clean those up with a polishing piece -- but thats as far as I'd ever recommend going.

Thanks for the info guys,
I am considering some sort of mach trigger. In your experience what is more desirable a single stage or double stage trigger mechanism ?

Basically I have a 20'' AR-15 I want to keep as simple as possible, but have some good accuracy at 100-200 yards. The intrinsic accuracy is great it's just that the trigger has alot of 'creep'.
Thanks again
