AR 15 troubles

Does anyone know why my AR 15 would not only jam, but the bullet was pushed back into the casing? This worried me! I am not sure why this would happen. Any ideas? I was using factory ammo. Winchester .223 rem, 45 gr.CXP1 brand shells.

Most of the problem with a semi come from the mag.
Do you have the problem with other type of ammo

gun is new, I had some pmc, but that was too light and tumbled! Now I have this stuff and its crushing the bullets!

Those 45 gr. bullets are most likely your trouble I have seen 3 different AR'S do this with this ammo. I hate to think what may happen if a round gets pushed back into case and you touch off this round.

I have seen more than one post regarding the 45grain Winchester ammo. I have heard it can actually be dangerous in an AR.

Get some 55 grain FMJ and try it out.

I recall Winchester 45gr ammo was involved in a kaboom on here. (Can't find it, the search sucks). I'd stay away from it and shoot the 55gr.

Maybe the OAL on 45gr stuff is to short for a semi-auto, plus no cannulure spells trouble.

I found that my AR jammed alot when it was new. after about 500 rounds, it has been running like a top

I've had that with AR's as well. As GT said, the crimped HP leaves a flat spot on top of the bullet that gets hung-up on a lot of feedramps.

Funny thing, my cheapo Norinco 311 ate those with no problems at all! It's the only AR I ever shot that could handle them.
