How can you tell the difference between AR-15 magazines and LAR-15 magazines? I would like to buy some LAR-15 10 round mags to use in my T97 but don't want to end up with illegal AR-15 10 round mags. Can somebody help me? Thanks!

All my LAR mags have clearly printed "pistol magazine" engraved on them. Mine are a number of years old, I assume new LAR mags have the same printing, otherwise I wouldn't use them.

Bullseye has some. I bought two to try out and they were great. It was initially difficult to load all 10 rounds, but on the second reload, it was able to load all 10.

The LAR-15 from bullseye has the pistol marking designation, it is painted/silkscreened, not engraved. Someone in another post mentioned their LAR-15 (not sure which brand), the markings are fading. Forum members suggested to place a clear tape or perhaps a clear nail polish to protect the marking.

Get them from Bullseye.

When they come back into stock might as well get some couplers for them as well.

Just can't get my head around using two good magazines for the purpose of imitating one 30 rounder. You drop this during a reload and it fills with dirt or worse. Better to add a proper magazine extension to mimic a 30 rounder for training classes.

2 good magazines that give you 20 rds of capacity. Most guys are running them in DSS match competitions without issue. YMMV

So if a marking gets worn off, the item magically changes from one thing to another? Sounds fishy to me! :)

Yup.....if the label markings are gone it becomes illegal so purchase the magazines that are lazer printed or permanently metal punched as the ink stencilled hardware will wear off.

Here is an example of a few of mine that are two LAR pistol magazines and two pinned rifle magazines. How can you tell the difference if the markings are removed and not pinned? Guys they become prohibited.

However I have purchased a couple of the cheap printed IWI LAR Magazines, but will be very careful with them.

So you drop, bend over to pick it up and then rotate it into the rifle? Or you grab, pull then rotate it to reload? Both ways sound very inefficient to me.

Grabbing then flipping to reload...

It's not as inefficient as you think as you don't need to access your mag in a pouch to reload. Very close to the same speed, especially for newbies.
